Putney
This young family were eager to transform their detached Edwardian house in Putney into a warm, distinctive forever home. Though it had beautiful original features and generous proportions, it lacked personality and didn’t quite suit the demands of their busy family life. Excited to unlock the full potential of their new home, we started by reimagining the layout with an engaging spatial planning exercise (including the redesign of two bathrooms and the family kitchen) before curating a comprehensive list of new furniture and soft furnishings to align with our vision.
Inspired by the Edwardian love of brighter, simpler designs, we celebrated the home’s architectural details. This allowed the hallway’s stunning original tiled floor to sing against a rich colour palette of greens and an uncluttered, but thoughtful, furniture layout that still prioritised storage. The bright playroom, central to family life, needed a more playful aesthetic. Tongue-and-groove panelling added a fun, cabin-like feel, while the bespoke Atomic red bookcase became a joyful focal point – perfect for displaying the family’s eclectic treasures and favourite toys.
Downstairs, bold colour palettes and patterns perfectly balanced cosiness with the practical needs and energy of family life. Softer colours were selected upstairs to create calming retreats for the whole family to unwind after busy days in London. The combination of subtle colours and a thoughtful collection of old, new and bespoke furniture, resulted in a homely, relaxed elegance. A beautifully-balanced forever home.
